about me

Marianne Davies

I was born in France and came to England at 19, originally with the desire to learn English and experience a different way of life. I ended up staying, and England has been my home ever since.

I discovered yoga in my mid-twenties. Although my practice came and went over the years, I always found my way back to it. Somehow, I knew that whenever I practised, I felt better — more grounded, more connected and more at ease.

Along the way, I explored different areas of personal development, including hypnotherapy and the workings of the mind. I’ve had many different professional experiences, but over time I realised that yoga was the path I had been looking for.

Today, teaching yoga feels like coming full circle. For me, yoga is about much more than the physical practice. It is about creating space — in the body, in the mind and in our lives — and giving people simple tools to help them navigate life with a little more ease, strength and awareness.

My own journey is still very much unfolding. I believe in continuing to learn, develop and challenge myself, both as a teacher and as a person. Teaching yoga is not about having all the answers; it’s about sharing what I continue to discover through my own practice and experience.

My focus now is to keep growing, keep learning and keep finding new ways to support people through movement, breath, the body and the mind.

My philosophy

Body, breath and mind

One thing that makes my teaching a little different is my background in hypnotherapy. It gave me a deeper understanding of how closely the body and mind are connected, and how creating a deeply relaxed state can make us more receptive to positive change.

During my classes, I use yoga to help settle the nervous system, ease physical tension, and quieten the mind. In that calmer, more present state, I gently weave in simple reflections and positive suggestions — not to tell people what to think, but to encourage greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and a stronger connection with themselves.

My hope is that students leave not only feeling better in their bodies, but also carrying something with them that continues to unfold beyond the mat and into everyday life.
